Statement of Ethics

Dignity: I strive to represent people with care. I do this by educating myself about the contexts that I am working in and the topics that I am photographing, and by exercising care to use visual language that upholds the dignity of all people.

Respect: I work to protect the human rights of the people that I photograph. I do this by seeking consent from people who feature in my photographs, and by having conversations so that we can make decisions together about where their image is seen.

Responsibility: I intend to have a positive impact on the world through my photographs. I do this by reflecting on the possible impacts on the people and places pictured, and on wider society. I recognise that photography is powerful, and I do my best to use that power responsibly.

Environmentalism: I work to mitigate the environmental impact of my work. I do this by considering the ecological ramifications of my decisions, including decisions about the equipment and processes I use.

Accountability: When I make mistakes, I try to leave my ego at the door and respond with vulnerability. I recognise that ethics is a process and that I am always learning.
