While the democratic election was underway to elect Myanmar’s first civilian president since 1962, life in the streets continued as normal. This image of daily life in Yangon stands in stark contrast to the monumental change that the political sphere underwent that same day. This commentary extends beyond Myanmar's borders, as so often there is a vast disconnect between what happens on bureaucratic levels and what happens in daily life among the majority.
Election Day was exhibited at the John Hewitt Bar in Belfast in July 2016. This image was presented along side a selection of other photographs taken that day in Yangon.
